Send-Return
Hallo

The FX return has a switch built into the jack that disconnects the preamp signal. This is the proper & standard method for all series FX loops. Probably over 90% of all FX loops are designed this way. For a series FX loop to work properly the preamp signal must be disconnected from passing through & bypassing around the FX loop. The most desired way to do this is commonly considered to be via a switch built into the return jack rather than the send jack as this allows the user the
option to use the send jack as a preamp direct out to chain to an additional amp when not using as FX loop. There are a few amps with parallel FX loops which would allow for using the FX return as a sort of summing input with the main input but parallel FX loops are generally less desirable since normally with modern FX there is the ability to blend the staight signal to the exact amount you
want within the FX unit itself, so it would be undesirable to have some strait signal bypassing the loop & blending with more strait signal from the FX unit. I have also seen a few amps with series FX loops where the preamp disconnect switch was built into the FX send jack which is also generally considered to be less desirable as it then eliminates the possibility to use the FX send as a direct out for chaining to additional power amp. So to make a long story short, On the D200 you can't use the FX return
to sum another signal with the main input signal & this is by far the most commonly excepted preferred arrangement for the reason described above. Unfortunately you can't have every option.
